MAY 2007 !!!!WOW!!!!!
We have had several family things and at least one very unexpected family thing happen this month.
The first weekend in May, Katy and Destiny were in a home school group play and they preformed really well. The did the play Friday evening and Saturday evening. It went well, though the play itself was not as organized or as fun as the previous year's play, but it was still a great job done by the kids.
Gmom & Pop came up on Sunday the 13th to be a support and to see Doug's Eagle Ceremony and Curtis & Nikki's wedding. Boy, are we glad they were here. They helped us out in so many ways.
Though none of us realized it, they became our very posh chauffeur service from Friday the 18th thru Tuesday the 22nd.
Bryan had worked some mean hours for the past few weeks and took the 18th off. He was awakened at 6am by a phone call from Doug, letting us know he had been in a accident because of about 10 deer on the highway and that the van was totaled. Doug said he was ok and that the secretary for American Walnut in Grant had drove up and would take him on to work.
I didn't want to see our van smashed so Bryan and Pop went to look at the scene. I soon received a call from Byran, telling me to get dressed and be ready to leave. Doug had been taken by ambulance to the hospital!!!
Gmom and Pop followed us to the hospital were the ambulance had just arrived. They had Doug strapped to a back board with a neck brace on him. The Dr. came in a spoke to him and they took off the neck brace and removed the back board. They took him to x ray and found that he had a compression fracture of his 1st vertebrae in his lower back. They then ran a cat scan to see if it had affected his spinal cord. After about 3 hours we took him home. The next Tuesday he was seen by a neurologist named Dr. Peterson. Doug was told to take it extra easy for 2 months and then come back for another x ray. He is to do no lifting, working out, or pretty much any unnecessary moving. He can go to work sense he does computer programming, but was sent to get a back brace to wear when he is not resting.
Doug's Eagle Award was scheduled for that same night at 6pm and the wedding rehearsal was an hour away at 4pm. He missed the rehearsal but Gmom and Pop brought him to the church for the award ceremony. They also went to Maryville to get the cake, punch, and supplies.
Saturday May 19th at 1:15pm. Curtis and Nikki were married.
It was a very nice ceremony and reception after. They were married in a baptist church by a baptist preacher in Winston, Missouri. Her grandmother lives in that town but was unable to attend due to health problems, so they went to see her after the wedding.
We are thrilled to have her as another daughter and member of our family.
